My oldest Fur Baby: Tucker

He was acting strange for the last few hours; hiding under my bed, not responding when I called out to him, and ignoring his brothers. I though this was weird as he is normally snuggled up at the bottom of my bed when I am working on my photos, or trying to lie across the keyboard of my laptop. I started to get really worried when I didn’t hear the chime of his collar when dinner was served, as he is usually the first down over the stairs …

A couple nights ago, my oldest cat Tucker was rushed to to vet hospital, the C.A.R.E. Center, and admitted for the next 2 days. He is doing ok, but it still worries me when I cannot help him :(

About 7 or 8 years ago, we took the then young and (what we thought was healthy) Tucker to the vet for behavioral issues. For the few days before, he was acting strange and trying to pee everywhere in our house (even on people’s laps), but nothing was happening. That’s when the vet’s face changes. Turned out tucker has a blockage and had to be put under right away to remove the blockage or he could potentially die! I couldn’t believe it, I just thought he was acting out! Thank god I brought him in to see the doc.

Last week Tucker started showing the same signs so I got worried and brought him in. Turned out he just had a little infection and was not blocked. Thank goodness! Anyway, they sent us home with some medicine and he was looking and doing good … until a couple nights ago …

Once we got him out from under the bed and tried to get him to eat he started showing the signs again. This time it turned out he was fully blocked and it was a good thing we brought him in. They got him all fixed up and we after 2 days of worrying he is finally out of the woods.

If any of you have cats (especially male cats) keep an eye out for the signs I mentioned above. Turns out male cats are more prone to urinary tract problems, and it also turns out it can be triggered by stress too.

Tucker is now home recovering and resting :)
